Hey, parents of preschoolers
« on: October 15, 2012, 11:09 AM »
I'm putting together some preschool classes for my local parks and rec department. I have to write a description. Would you, as a parent of a preschooler, want to know the name of my book (the one that relates to the class itself) or would it just be enough to say something like, "Join children's author Carmella Van Vleet for...."

My goal isn't to promote my books so much as it is to fill the class. I'm working on the assumption that saying I'm a children's author would make the class more desirable because it appeals to the "learning on top of fun" aspect.

Would saying I'm a NON-fiction children's writer make a difference? Make you think I'm even more credible?

 :thankyou

I'd like to know the name of the book. I've seen people claim to have published dozens of books, only when I check them out to see if I've read any of them, I can't actually find a record of them. A traditionally-published book will have a record. A well-done self-published book will have a record. But there are other, less-professional kinds of "publishing," and I'd be more impressed with an author who is a professional. Also, I'd feel like my money was paying for something that was quality.

Also, if it relates to the class, I'd probably be interested in getting the book, you know?

I'd want to know the name of the book - just to have a better idea of the content of the class....

I think the titles of your books are really exciting and will get parents and kids interested, even if they haven't heard them. Because they've heard of Egypt and electricity, right? :)
