Yay, Salina!! I'm so glad you shared your good news with us!  :star2  This looks like such a cute book. I hope I get to read it soon.  Huge Congratulations to you!!

P.S. I was thrilled to be browsing in an airport bookstore last month when I spotted your kaleidoscope book.  Awesome! Congrats on that one, too.

:thankyou Thanks, you guys!  :grouphug2  And what?!? Is Penguin so predictable that you all (who guessed) sense he'd go to a tropical island? :vacation  Indeed, he does! To the beach, in fact. I think I'm allowed to give that away, since the cover makes it pretty obvious. (Cover hasn't released, but soon enough I'm sure).

And Ev... yay for spotting KALEIDOSCOPE at the airport!

Tammi... your new cover looks great!

So glad to read this post because I've spent some time hanging out with Penguin and he is the loveliest little black-and-white flightless bird that you could ever come across.

It's a gorgeous book and I can't wait for my daughters to eat read it. (One of them has developed a taste for eating Salina's books.)

Congratulations!
Read it and reap.

This past weekend, my six-year-old and I had the great fortune of getting to see Salina read this book to an audience at Wordstock, buy a copy for ourselves, and hang out with Salina for a bit. (she's even lovelier in person than she is here). Since then, I can't count how many times my daughter has read the book to me and vice versa. It's utterly adorable and will be my go-to Christmas gift for our littlest friends/family this year.

My seven-year-old daughter is a tough customer when it comes to books and she LOVED it. She laughed out loud several times (rare for her) and found it very unexpected and cute.

I was popping in looking for Jeanne,... and there she is! *waves* Sooooooooo soooo soo delighted to meet you in person, Jeanne! I was nervous that the same chemistry online wouldn't be the same in person, but I was dead wrong. It's actually stronger in person! Just loved meeting you AND your whole family! Great husband, beautiful kids, and you're just amazing all around. I'm a fan for life. Could not put your book down!!!!!!!!! WOW...NERVE just pulls you in and won't let go. So gripping.

Oh... this thread is about MY little ol' book? Thank you, friends, for all your support! When there's ever an opportunity to meet in person, let's do it!  I want to meet as many Blueboarders in person as possible! And Jeanne,... we MUST meet again. I know we will.

Diana, are you sure you can't push up your pb release dates? 2014 is an awfully long time to wait!!

Oh, oh... Diana... I'm doing a book event at a KNITTING store in Dec! What fun you'll have at your specially tailored events! Maybe we could even do one together one day! Penguin continues to knit. I'm doing mine with Tao Nyeu (SQUID and OCTOPUS). They have knitted hats on (on the cover). So cute!

Ah, if only I could push the wheels of the publishing industry a bit faster!

How cool that you're doing an event at a knitting store. I looked up the cover of SQUID AND OCTOPUS. Sooo adorable! Sounds like it will be a fun (knit-terrific?) event. I'd love to do an event together someday, if you don't mind sitting next to a nervous wreck!

More good news about Penguin and Pinecone: It has gone back to press for reprints! It released in Oct/2012... so this is a pretty quick trip back! Also... a board book edition will be made available (not sure when), and a Kindle version will be available in Aug/2013.

Penguin and Pinecone will also be published in FRENCH, KOREAN, and TIBETAN. (Yes, Tibetan. It was selected for a very special project called the Snow Lion Storytelling Initiative, and will be specially translated for Tibetan refugee children. All translated books (5 titles in total) will be distributed to over fifty public Tibetan schools across India, Nepal and Bhutan.)
