rutgers conference
« on: September 08, 2012, 11:05 PM »
Could someone please advise me concerning the upcoming Rutgers conference. I decided to apply, not knowing a great deal about it, and was accepted.  I am assuming that this is a nice affirmation of my writing but does anyone know how many applications they receive for the 70 or so spots?  And should I break a leg to get there?  NJ is not exactly in my neighborhood so I would welcome all thoughts.

Hey, anonw, be sure to see this thread:

I don't know for sure but think it's unlikely that the conference goes public with how many total applicants they had or therefore how many got turned away. And I haven't been but from what I've heard, people are likely to tell you to break that leg. It's supposed to be quite valuable, though my understanding is that it's more for networking than help with a specific piece. I'm sure others will chime in with specifics.

I'll add, from a conference organizer's view, that you should contact them sooner rather than later if you're waffling. They probably have a wait list and someone who really wants that spot could have it, if you're ambivalent. :)
