Son is playing Carnegie Hall
« on: August 23, 2012, 02:56 PM »
My son just texted me to let me know he made his university orchestra which means he'll be playing bassoon at Carnegie Hall this October. Isn't the coolest thing?

I'm just so tickled and proud of him! What a thrill that will be for him as a musician.

Any advice about where to stay in NY, flying in etc would be greatly appreciated by the way.  :grin

Car! That is SOOOO exciting! Congrats to your talented son...and his (rightfully so) proud mama!

You asked about where to stay...there is a Hampton in on 8th and 51st that tends to be pretty reasonable. We've stayed there before.

Enjoy every moment!

Congrats!  I'm the mother of a musician (euphonium!), so I totally understand your excitement.
This fall my 8th grader will play at Severance Hall (Home of the Cleveland Orchestra) with the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony.
It's going to be hard to keep my emotions in check when I see my baby on stage.
ENJOY the moment and don't forget to pat yourself on the back.  I know you had a great deal to do with his success!
