As fast as greased lightning...
« on: August 09, 2012, 06:20 PM »
Well, not that--it's kind of a cliche.

But I need cowboy slang for:  "She rode (her horse) as fast as a.....(something)"

Any ideas?  Thanks, in advance!!

Galloped is the correct term for the fastest gait of a horse, so maybe rather than saying she rode her horses as fast as... you could say she galloped...

off into the sunset :)

Faster than a tumbleweed in a hurricane.

Ooo, that's a good one. Maybe a tumbleweed in a tornado?

Lots of good ideas here - but I'm wondering about the context. Is she racing away from something? Is she just going fast because she likes to? Is the horse running away with her? There's a big diff between galloping "away from" or "to" something and I think you'd want your phrase to speak to that.
