End of my Canterwood Crest series
« on: July 30, 2012, 11:09 AM »
The news became official today and I thought I'd share. You all have been with me since I started writing TAKE THE REINS (bk 1) in November 2006. My series will close on the 20th book--HOME FOR CHRISTMAS pubbing next November.

I blogged about my feelings here: http://jessicaburkhart.blogspot.com/2012/07/important-not-to-be-missed-announcement.html

Again, thank you all for the support and giving me a place to come for inspiration or a break. I've got 3 books left to write and then it becomes a big (scary!!) world.  :thankyou2:

Oh, my goodness. I am so sad. So many kids I know LOVE the series and will be devastated to see it come to an end!

Wow, bittersweet. What a great run -- 20 books! Congrats on the series. It's sad to say goodbye to the characters but no doubt you have more stories to tell.

First off, congratulations for sustaining the momentum to carry off twenty books in such a short time, well-received books, I might add. Canterwood Crest has its own shelf at my local B&N!

However bittersweet this is, I just want you to know you're AWESOME! When I first came across you here on the blueboards, you were still a teenager with, I think, 90 published articles AND your contract for Canterwood Crest. I've always been impressed with you.

You're ending this series--my gosh, what a foundation! You rock, girl!

What Danette said. I can think of only a dozen or so authors who have survived a long series (and Sue Grafton will tell you, it is truly a matter of surviving!) It will be fascinating to see what you are writing 5 years from now! To think, we knew you when!

eta: omg, Jess, I just read your "Dear Teen Me" essay on your blog. You don't need me to tell you about surviving. You already have lived several lifetimes.

That's a huge accomplishment! My daughter is just about old enough to enjoy them, now, and I can't wait to start her on them.
I just read your essay, also, and am so impressed that you were able to write through all you had going on. So, so impressed!!

I also remember when you sold your first Canterwood books. I can hardly believe how far you've come and all that you've gone through. I also read your "Dear Teen Me" article and my heart was torn in half for you. I can only say that you are stronger than you think you are. And this is your new beginning.

Wow! What an accomplishment, Jessica!!! It must be bittersweet. I am sure many new doors will be opening as soon as you finish writing the last three books.

Congratulations on having such a successful series!

Watching you write this series has been a joy.  Heck, watching you grow into yourself as an independent and capable woman has been a joy, too.

You are amazing and inspiring, Jessica.  Every time I see your books on the shelf (and that's All The Time!), I smile.  I hope your next adventures are wonderful, too!

All those stories! Not knowing you, for a long time I assumed they were coming from a fleet of writers at a Book Producer's! You are inventive and clearly a total pro--never doubt for a moment that you will come up with an equally fabulous new idea, and ride with it. . . .
