I'm pretty much a stranger to most sci-fi, but those are great lists.  Came in to see if Bradbury and Card were on there, saw that indeed they were.  I got nothing else to add but thanks for posting this!

Anything a person can do to promote good SF improves the world.

I can elaborate on that statement but it's going to take an hour, a projector, one of those cute laser pointers... and no heckling from the audience.

YA: Pathfinder - Orson Scott Card (doubtless, there are other sci-fi Card books, but this is the one I can attest to... also, the sequel is coming out in October)
