Author Topic: HELP Verla keep the board running smoothly! DELETE your old PMs! (Read 1221 times)

As you know, the mods and admins have been working hard to free up space on the message board until it can be moved to a new server. It was brought to our attention (thanks, ButterflyGirl!) that we might all be hoarding very old, unnecessary PMs! *guilty*

So please check your inboxes and sent items for any PMs you could delete to help free up space!!

You can delete all of your sent and received messages quickly by using the Actions/Prune Messages button. It's automatically set to delete all messages except the past 14 days. You can change that to a higher number if there are messages you want to keep that are older than 14 days

Deleted all mine, but I didn't have many.
Hey, feel free to delete all my posts if that would help.
Mostly I just babble anyway.

Or is that something I can do? Delete all my posts? I'm game.

Done! It was interesting to read through the PMs before I deleted them. I have deleted some PMs over the years, but have kept some too. I had one saved from back in 2004 (it was a very nice PM, which is why I had saved it)!

Done ... I usually clean up periodically, so I didn't have many. Hmmm, maybe some things ought to be on auto-purge, like Other Stuff, Blog news, etc.?

I know there are some great old threads but boy, if space is an issue, which it sounds like it is, I'd be tempted to automatically delete most everything after a couple of years. I've been on this board a long time, and it has grown tremendously.

I just deleted my old PMs, too. I wish I had time to read over all of them...I had hundreds of them, dating back to 2005. Even though I'll miss being able to look back at them now, I'm so glad it'll help open up more space on the board!

Thanks, everyone. I had 5 pages of PMs but my sent messages had 38 pages in it... some of them went back to 2003, when the board was created. *GUILTY*

But they are all gone now but the last 14 days' worth. Thanks for all your help. Once the board gets moved to our new server, we will have unlimited space for most things and this won't be so critical. It's just until we get moved to keep us from *blowing up/shutting down* from lack of current space.

Yes. You can keep ones that are special or have info you need. We're just trying to prune as much bandwidth as we can until the move.

Exactly, Donna. The Moderators and Administrators are busy deleting outdated, unneeded threads from every area of the board right now. Thanks for thinking of it -- you are thinking exactly like all the Admins and Mods.
