Thanks, Jody.

That's what I figured, but I thought I'd ask to make sure.

I have a question also--can articles published in an on-line magazine be considered for the SCBWI magazine merit awards?

Awfulwaffles: I can tell you that a crit partner of mine received a letter of merit last year for a poem that appeared in an online magazine. So I think it's possible. But check the rules in case anything has changed.

Thanks, Diana, Alison, Sully, Sara, and Katy.

Katy--You can submit photocopies of your piece. I scanned the piece to a PDF and then printed copies of the PDF.

Diana--that's encouraging to know. I had the same question, and SCBWI doesn't provide an email address for questions, just the mailing address. The instructions say that every magazine story is eligible, which sounds like online mags should be included.

Thanks, everyone! I wonder who won for fiction and illustration. Any blueboarders?

Carrie and Jody, the first place poem was "Sandy Surprise" which was published in Clubhouse Jr. (August 2012) and the second place poem was "Unwelcome to Opposite Island" which was published in Highlights (July 2012). Certainly been a lucky year! I feel very fortunate.

So Diana, you won both first and second place?!!!

I remember reading "Unwelcome to Opposite Island." That was a really fun one. :)

Sara, that's what she said! I don't think I'll believe it till I see it officially posted. Feeling rather flabbergasted. That's cool that you remember the one in Highlights! :)

Thanks, Alison!

Jody, glad we can be in the same issue! Was it a rebus?
