Hi everyone!

It's almost time!

 :yay

I just confirmed our dinner reservations, and we're all set.  We'll be in The Cafe (at the Hilton), and the reservations are under the name "Blueboarders."  (and also my name, Sheri Dillard)  The restaurant staff knows that we will all be arriving at different times and will be paying with separate checks.  (It worked out great last year.)  So come on down after you get into town -- anytime from 6:30pm until 10pm.

We might be a bit "cozy" in the reserved room, but there are tables just outside the room, if needed.  I think it'll work out fine.  I'm glad we have such a big group!  :)

Safe travels, everyone!  See you soon!!!

OK, so I have Anita, Sheri and Marcy, then. That should be good. Thanks, ladies!

And...dumb question...it's the East Brunswick Hilton, right? The two towers off the Turnpike?

For the dinner?  Yes, here's a link:

I'm looking forward to your talk, Tara!  Are you still shopping for accessories?  I was going to mention a new store that everyone is talking about.  It's a shop which sells only the most useful things.  You've probably heard about it...  ;)

Thanks, Sheri for setting everything up for dinner!!!   :thankyou

Tara, so excited to help!
Here's the address for the Hilton:
3 Tower Center Boulevard | East Brunswick | NJ 08816

I always get lost and GPS didn't have a problem getting me
there last year.

Safe travels. Can't wait to see all of you.

Sheri and ladies, as I suspected, I'm not going to make it to dinner tonight. Multiple Sclerosis makes life very tiring, and I just did a school presentation this morning and I'll need to rest up if I'm going to make it through the entire day tomorrow!

So have a wonderful evening. I am sorry I will be missing it. Hopefully we can all touch base tomorrow at lunch. Or any other time. Just come up and say hello.

Sheri, Anita and Marcy, I will call you up toward the end of my speech to hand out the goodies for everyone. Thanks again.

Ha, HA! I have my accessories, but they have nothing to do with monsters, believe it or not!

What's a bummer is I bought new boots for tomorrow and they don't fit. Back to Zappos they go. Old boots will have to do. Just don't look down at my feet.

The glow of my bracelet has died away, but the glow of hearing great talks by Tara and Bruce Coville, talking with fabulous writers on Friday night, and getting excellent advice from my mentor continues! So great to see you all!

To be in the company of so many warm and smart "blueboarder" writers at Friday night's terrific dinner and then meeting another bunch of talented people at the conference the next day was very exhiliarating.  Tara, your speech was funny, poignant, and very inspiring. You're much prettier without the beard, though!   :flower     Can't wait to read Monstore! :zombie

Lots to process from this experience.  Lots of writing to do!  Hope all of you learned something from Rutgers and will apply that knowledge to getting closer to a published book!

Had a great time! Flubbed my speech in a few places, but I hope no one noticed. Glad everyone glowed all day! I got to meet some of you, but not all. I was very appreciative of the folks who thanked me for my speech. The best comment was from a woman (and I have forgotten her name!) who said that this was her 3rd year and my speech made her feel the most comfortable, relaxed and inspired leading into the rest of the day!

Yay! The conference was awesome. Hope everyone had an inspiring day. And it was great meeting everyone (and reconnecting with some folks from last year).

Tara, your speech cracked me up -- and yes, set the tone for a more relaxed day for sure. Thank you!

Plus, my daughter snatched up my glo bracelet as soon as I got home, and was very pleased with her party favor. It was hot pink, her favorite color (besides purple), so thanks very much for that!

Oh I am glad it went to your daughter! I had about 8 left over and I left them on a table in the multi-purpose room. I got home and the first thing my girls asked me was "where's our bracelets". LOL. No "hi mom, we missed you", just BRACELETS. Now I owe them big time for forgetting them! LOL

Oh, my!  What a wonderful weekend!  I loved our Friday night dinner!  Yay for Blueboarders!   :grouphug2

Tara, I loved your speech!  You are as thoughtful (and funny!) in person as you are online.  Thank you for getting the day off to a perfect start.

And, lucky me, my mentor was the one and only Mr. Underdown.  :)  I was so happy to have such a  knowledgeable and encouraging mentor.  I just hope I didn't bombard him with TOO many questions!  (Sorry, Harold!)

Keep in touch, everyone!  And please share your good news! :clover :clover :clover

Bruce Coville was so inspiring and funny. in the throes of  his excellent kid humor, he was also reminding us of the higher mission of our work-- to reach out to and inspire and connect with children, and that our words can have a ripple effect in profound ways that we might never know-- therefore, it's incumbent upon us to do our best for children as they deserve our best. He had some potent political messages as well, saying that "our culture despises children," and pushes them into their assigned role of being "little consumers," and he believes this is because of our reverence for power and our fear of weakness. . .I could go on and on because I found it quite moving and "right on."

:jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: Go Bruce!!!!!!!

Yes, I met Diane and she was so warm, inspiring and helpful! In fact, just about every mentor I met was gracious and generous with knowledge and insights. Thanks, Tara, for taking off pressure and getting us in the right mindset to approach people with our humble questions  :old

This was such a wonderful experience and was truly what I needed to return home nurtured and motivated.  It was so nice to finally "meet" Blueboard friends in person, too. :grouphug2

Ditto! Such a wonderful conference.
Sorry I didn't get to meet the BBs at dinner....Joyce and I got there at about 9:30 and you were gone! But, Sheri came down and sat and chatted.
Tara (you) did a great job and her tale is so heartwarming...so nice to meet her in person and sit next to her during the panel.
Bruce is vibrant and funny and uplifting.
Editors and agents all around and the RUCCL council is amazing! You could feel the writing energy in the air.
You have to think about this for next year, writers.  :)
