Facebook's New Timeline
Verla Kay:
I wanted to know what it was, so I clicked on the download button. MAJOR MISTAKE! I absolutely hate it. If I wanted a Twitter-type venue, I would use Twitter, instead of avoiding it like the plague. Once you TRY the new timeline with Facebook, you are stuck with it forever, whether you want it or not and it automatically goes "live" in 7 days, whether you like it or not. To protest, I have deactivated my Facebook account totally. I wish thousands of others would do the same. Maybe then they would give us the choice of keeping the old if we prefer it. I guess I'll be moving over to Google+.
TH:
Thanks for posting this, Verla. I was about to 'try' it also!
Verla Kay:
P.S. To deactivate your Facebook account, go to your settings to Security and click on deactivate. You can go back and restore your entire account at any time with your password.. Perhaps if enough of us protest by deactivating our accounts they will give us the choice to choose. In the reason for deactivating, I clicked on Other and typed in my reason... I HATE the new Timeline venue.

I'll just say... you get used to it. I'm kind of a Timeline evangelist. At first, it seemed strange. But it's got some great features. Like, if I want to see what my kids were doing last year, it's so easy to click on 2010 and read what my status updates were. Or if I'm looking for a recipe that someone posted on my wall in December, I just click December. And I like the cover photo because a lot of people make their profile pic kind of "representative" instead of their face - like maybe a cat or something, but now you can do that with the "cover photo" and leave your profile pic as you.
Anyway - you really might not hate it if you give it a chance!
TracyH:
Just here to say I hate it, too. But apparently, it's rolling out to everyone next week whether they like it or not :(
