Note that even self-published books make writer ineligible -- that's an interesting twist on the definition of "published" that I haven't seen before.

Any genre including adult novels, I think -- but you could always email them to ask.

I just got word that I've made it to the next stage of the competition!!! According to the email, this means they think my work is well-written and of publishable quality.
