The Five Randoms (http://thefiverandoms.livejournal.com/) are sponsoring a YAMGWriMo in June.  I haven't seen anything else about it, but I'm interested.  Anyone else want to join in?   I could use a partner to keep me accountable.

(Sorry if I beat you to this, Five Randoms!)

Ooh, I should do this too. I have one mg novel finished but I haven't really started anything new, except for writing down some ideas and random scenes. I have the voice and main character down for the next book, but I have no idea what happens to her!

I'm tempted ... even though I know these kinds of things don't work for me and I've got a class the first week of June and couldn't start right away, not to mention that the 14 week novel isn't done yet. Then again, I still have work to do on my graphic novel and they didn't say you had to start something new. I'm sure I have 30k more words that need to be written or re-written Wink

(Since I totally failed at the 14-week novel ... )

Sorry Sary! BTW, so did I, and it was my idea. Ugh! But playing along and trying are still good things, right? smile

Bumping up this thread as a reminder.

I'm (almost) ready to start.  I can't believe June 1st is so close!

I've been digging the 1k per day thread - and hope to finish my first draft by the end of June when my kiddies are done with school! I'm at 30k right now and will probably need to add close to 30k more in June to reach my goal - so... Woo Hoo! Count me in!

I'm considering it!  I actually had it in my mind to do something like this all on my own before I saw this thread.  The timing might be perfect for me right now.   Smile

You know, you could start the story with that whole head banging thing.  Maybe your MC is banging her head against the bathroom stall at school.  Or banging it against the head of a villain.  Or banging it against the car door as she tries to get out of the vehicle.

There's lots you can do with that banging head idea...  bangbreak

Everyone ready?

It starts TOMORROW!

I'm in a panic myself, but I'll be there.  Ready or not, I will write!

As for me, I'll be shooting for 1500 words a day.  That way I can take one day a week off and if I miss another day or two it won't matter.

ETA:  Not sure if this was mentioned here or just at the Five Randoms' LJ blog, but YAMGWRIMO participants are shooting for "30,000 crap-tastic first-drafty words."   FYI in case that wasn't clear.

Okay, I'm gonna give this a go. Since I am aiming for 1K a day anyway, I think I might be able to do this.

I've already done 1072 words for today, so I guess I'm IN! Keep me accountable people!  Ha Ha Ha

Must. Keep. Typing.

Ugh!  Only up to 500 words.  When did writing more that that become so difficult?

Pretty well; I have the first chapter and part of the 2nd written, and I have a lot of notes about later scenes.

You all need to go to the Five Randoms blog to comment about your progress! I'm the only one and it's lonely!

I've fallen behind already and it's only June 3!  I'm a high school teacher and this is our last week - the kids are taking exams today and tomorrow and then I'm done for the year, so hopefully I'll be able to catch up!

I wrote and am penciling 5 new pages for my graphic novel on Monday and Tuesday (worked all day Monday and 14 hours yesterday). It's not a lot of words, but it is a lot of work. If I scripted it out, it would be at least 5 text pages, if not more. So that counts, right?

Ok, back to work. I'm on a super tight deadline this week. You probably won't see me again for a while ...

Good luck everyone; keep typing!!!

Not doing so hot. I wrote 1800 words on June 1, and exactly 7 words on June 2.  My only regular writing time is from 4:30 until 6:00 a.m., before I start getting ready to leave for work, and yesterday, I wrote 7 words and fell asleep on my keyboard. This morning, I didn't even wake up until 5:57, so I only had three minutes to write. I managed one big fat happy chapter heading and that's it.  I'm sooooo ready for the end of the school year!

I'm on track with 2003 words and actually find it pretty freeing not to worry about editing or revising.  On Computer

I was buzzing along happily with my 1k per day, then *boom* sign up to fast draft and slow down to, er, 1k per three days...  Hiding
Hopefully I'll get more time now and really start chugging along... I think we need to get a little pep rally going on this thread!

Well, we had computer problems yesterday (we live in the cool temperate rain forests of the Northwest and suddenly the temperature shot up to summer temps, and our computer decided it was too hot and started overheating).  We just got up and running tonight, but I missed writing yesterday and today.  And I suddenly find myself besieged by 400,000,000 projects that HAVE to be done in the next week or two.  So, yeah, I'm so gonna lose this race.

But I'll keep at it.  Maybe a miracle will happen and I'll find some time to write.  Like from midnight to 2am.  Yeah.  That'll work.

The day I decided to do YAMGWriMo, I veered away from the book I was due to start writing and started editing my first MG manuscript.

I'm jumping in quickly, but probably won't be back for awhile.

My computer is CRAZY!!!  It won't stop overheating, so we have not even be able to turn it on until nearly midnight each night, and then only for a few minutes.  Luckily it's a cooler day here so I've been able to at least check my email (dang, still nothing from agents).  But due to this unforeseen problem, I've not been able to write AT ALL.  I'm ticked off at my computer.

Keep at it, the rest of you.  Hopefully soon my husband can figure out what the deal is with our computer and I can get back on track.  Don't know if I'll be able to get the 30000 words or not now (grrrr), but I'll do my best.

Good luck, everyone!

(Yikes, I'd better get this computer turned off, it's starting to push its way into the red zone again.  Hair Pull)

Oh dear. Here we are at the 7th already and I have less than 1500 words to my name!

I'm going to try and redeem myself, starting NOW! I've cleared my afternoon with hubby - he's got kid duty and I need to  typing like a woman possessed!

I'll check back in later and let you know how I go!
