Over 2000 words for me today. And a completed first draft at 50,340 words. Now, it's time to shelve that piece for at least a few weeks to a month before I go into 'Revisionland.'

Wow Congrats Christine! I am hoping I can finish this first draft by October. We'll see. I feel like I still have so far to go. I wrote a thousand words on Friday and Sunday, but not today. Although I did get some inspiration about changing a certain plot point so that other events are more meaningful, and it will also be easier to write too. So, yay!!!

Congrats, Christine, and congratulations on your new character, AmandaSue.

I wrote 1500 words and introduced the last major character in the book. However, I now have to figure out how to get my MC to ever go back to her room.

1300 words today and starting to pull together all the threads to march through the middle and into the end where the loose ends can be tied up. Still a lot of middle left to go, but I feel like I can see the path.

1600 words and I am wondering why I thought writing was something I wanted to pursue.

Sorry about the hard day Michelle. But 1600 words is great! Esp. if they were fought for!

I wrote 1200 words today, incorporating minor villain into the plot. He's mostly just a jerk. But a dwarf with an inferiority complex is kind of fun to write.

911 words squeaked out today. I'm sure there will be more added in revisions. But I'm counting it today and looking forward to a weekend off, and possibly the next week since I have family coming in.

I only got about 600 new words today, but I cleaned up and streamlined a lot of stuff. It was a great scene to write. My MC is starting to realize that what she has in her house might be worse than ghosts.

Finally, I got 1500 words, and in about two hours, too. It was a fun scene, but I am rapidly reaching the point where I need another pint-sized magical creature, and I haven't got an idea what to use. I've run across a few obscure creatures, but nothing that really stirs imagination. I guess it's time to hit the books again.

I would feel happy if I wrote TEN words today. But I won't. I'm making (and preparing to decorate) a wedding cake for Saturday. I'll be lucky if I even THINK ten words today. :sigh

Definitely know how that feels, Verla. I got fifty done, so I should be booted out of this club.  Speaking of decorating, there's a great catering shop near me that sells everything for cake decorating, and since I can't bake, it is of no use to me, but I bought some candy flowers to place on some bars I just made.
Oh, and I have John's Christmas present sorted already: a beer pitcher chocolate mold.  It looks fab!
Good luck at that wedding.

I know the feeling.  Only 400, but I rewrote a troublesome scene in a way that finally felt right.  And I know exactly how your MC feels, that point where you would turn around, but you are dead certain that right behind you is a vacuum cleaner salesman.

Editing counts, right? (no...back to drafting).

1200 words today! The last book I wrote just poured out of me. This one is about as easy as eradicating dandelions. The words just don't want to come out! So I'm rather pleased at the progress.

xC0000005, I think editing MUST count. Because sometimes you hit those snags where if you *don't* fix it then, the whole story will be derailed. So you're investing in your 1000 words tomorrow, right? :)

Did yesterday's thousand, today's thousand, and for bonus points tacked on a thousand for tomorrow.  Not that it works like that. :)  If I did three thousand today, that's fantastic.  I still owe myself another thousand tomorrow.

Well, after a week of visiting family and then getting a Highlights article whipped into shape and sent off, I am back to this novel. Yay!  So another 1400 word chapter down.

952 words? I'm counting it. Not a finished chapter, but most of the meat is down. Just have to finish up a conversation between a boy and a bear.   :grin

I wrote 1700 words today, while revising! This is great for me, because usually I revise at a snail's pace.

Go Karen! I have been writing about 800 words a day lately, and adding revision notes here and there.

1500 words today. But I'm feeling dissatisfied with the way this chapter ended. I think I want it higher stakes. I will have to ruminate on it for a while and fix it tomorrow.

Why do you have to live so far away, Verla?

Woke up very early this morning and after watching some horribly trashy television, I became extremely agitated.  Then I heard John come out of his room and walked to college with him and decided to go for a coffee.

I know all of this is irrelevant, but on the way in, I got a sudden inspiration and over my coffee I got over 300 written.  Not much for you 1000 worders, I realise, but I haven't finished yet.

It feels good to post here again. :creativeart: :pages: :embarrassed2

503 words in total today.  Not bad for a longhander.  Plus, a friend proofreader dropped mid-session and cheekily demanded a peek.  Apart from a few tweaks, I got my first thumbs up.
I'm happy with that.

Stopping in to say that it's taken me three days to write 1100 words. And each word was absolute torture, because even though they are new words, they are part of a revision for an old manuscript.

Anyway, I am very, very happy right now, so I'm here to do the dance!

Enjoying that dance, Mrs. Jones.  Every time I come I get disheartened a little. I "only" write half that quota normally, but longhand it's actually quite a lot.  Definitely writer's cramp involved.  Anyway, I got nearly six hundred done so I'm happy.
I also finally mastered the art of caramel so I'm off too make a new kind of chocolate candy for me: lemon and orange caramel.  Also gonna start my trademark beer ones: Old Engine Oil.  Love that name, it's not a bad beer either.
Talk to you guys tomorrow probably.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful writing day!!  :cupcake :cupcake :cupcake :cupcake :cupcake

Great progress, everyone! I think I need to join this thread again. :) I need about 20,000 more words to get Real Mermaids #4 in 'first draft' mode and I'm hoping to do that before Christmas.

Got my 1,000 words in today.
