The Nicholls Fellowships in Screenwriting
Mary Quite Contrary:
I was wondering about competitions like this. If I ever get a script finished, I'll definitely keep it in mind. :thankyou
TexasGirl:
Two of my friends have competed in this, one got to quarterfinals as well. It's a VERY high profile competition.
I am TOTALLY making it my goal to enter this year. I know it's crazy since the due date is in 32 days and I have, oh, 3 pages written, but sometiimes crazy is the only way I can get anything done! It will be $30 down the tube, but hey, I waste $30 on fancy dinners all the time! I think the adaptation will go pretty fast since I already have a story, dialogue, characters, and an abbreviated outline for the screenplay version. I don't work much this time of year, so this will be my full time job for the next few weeks.
Today I came up with three potential titles, and NONE of them have ever been used! Unbelievable! I think that's a happy sign that I'm on the right track!
I am so foolishly excited about all this--but it defintely takes my mind off the partial and full off with agents at the moment! That's worth its weight in :treasure

Good luck, TexasGirl, and godspeed. :clover
(P.S. Don't stress about the title, at this point it doesn't matter if it's been used before ;D)
TexasGirl:
Hee hee, yes i know my title is *very* unlikely to ever get all the way through ANY process, even if got sold (ha, so unlikely!) but since I'm very pop-culture illiterate due to always having been a book hound, it's very embarrassing to create a title and learn it was an Acadamy Award winning movie ten years ago. :embarrassed2 I Google always!
Superfly:
I'd really like to do this. Does anyone know if your submission has to be exclusive, or can the script be out to prds or agents and still be considered?
