Back to previous page of China pictures

Here I am at the beginning of my trek up the Great Wall of China. (I'm the old gray-haired lady in the navy sweater on the right hand side of the picture weakly waving at the photographer-- and I had barely begun the climb.)

Here's my grandson at the bottom of the wall. If you look up, up, up in the photo, you can see the building at the very top of the hill in the middle of the picture where the wall ends at this part of the wall. That's how far I climbed!

As you can see from this close-up of the wall, it was NOT an easy climb!

The views were incredible and it was definitely worth all the effort as you can see from this photo I took part way up.

I made it to the top!

And what a feat it was! The end of the section I managed to reach is the very tiny building on the lower third hill on the left of the screen. It seemed like the climb would never end!
