Read and print out stories with your name and your friends' names in them. There's art stuff - the drawing page I tried was easy enough for a toddler to use and fun enough for big kids, too - there's even help here for you for your homework!

There is a wonderful book available for young people who want to know more about becoming published authors. It is full of helpful information, from stories of other children who have been published, through examples of how to prepare and send manuscripts to publishers. It has lists of publishers that accept stories from children, including how to submit to them, and also lists of contests (and rules) that children can enter. I highly recommend it! The book is "Young Writer's Guide to Getting Published" by Kathy Henderson.

1) Fiction - It would weigh nearly three times that amount - or about 68 pounds.
2) Fact - It is on display at Ironstone Vineyards in the old mining town of Murphey's, California.
3) Fact - Everything was expensive and merchants and tradesmen often ended up with more gold than the miners.
4) Fiction - One GRAIN of gold can make a wire 600 feet long. One OUNCE of gold can be drawn into a fine wire that is over 50 MILES long!
5) Fact - One nugget the size of a lump of sugar can be hammered until it covers 108 square feet and is so thin you can crumple it with your breath.
